The oldest living thing on the planet

The oldest living things on earth are Bristlkon pines, which are located in the White Mountains in California. Many of them are over 4,000 years old, meaning that they were saplings at the time of the construction of the pyramids, and the trees were already mature at the time of Jesus!

The oldest Bristlkon trees are at the biggest heights, with plenty of space between each tree. It is strange that these trees are growing only in the most difficult environments. White Mountains, which rise to around 13,800 feets are located in eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range, in the area where almost no rain at all. During the summer, this area is one of the driest on the planet, and this tree grows at a height of about 11,500 feets where it is almost always cold and windy.

Young trees seem perfectly normal - they begin to take on unusual forms only in very old age, when the lower parts of trees slowly begin to die. Then beautiful forms are created where we can see the consequences of the thousand year old external influences.

The question is - How can these trees survive so long in such a harsh environment, with strong winds, dry air, low precipitation and very salty and sandy soil?

Dry air and cold winds discourage insects to settle or cause damage to trees.

These trees have a very hard tree bark, which also aids in the rejection of insects and fungi.

The oldest tree is the ancient Bristlkon called "Methusalem" and it is 4,767 years old. Methusalem is not marked; to make sure that the vandals don’t destroy it ... The U.S. Forest Service refuses to reveal exactly which is the oldest tree. However, the trees are not always well guarded. An even older tree was destroyed, shortly after its age was discovered. Namely, in 1964, a researcher took a sample of these pine barks in order to determine their age. When it was discovered that the tree was over 4,000 years old, the Forest Service issued a permit to cut down the tree! It turned out that the tree was 4950 years old was and that they named it "Prometheus".
