An interesting and unusual village Kandovān in Iran

In the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan, on the north side of the inactive volcano Sahand, the cunning Azerbaijanis once built a unique village. Houses in the village Kandovān are cut directly into the rock; one rock was used for one house. Some are old and there are ones which are 700 years old.

Small, narrow stairs lead to some doors.

5-star hotel is located in the village center. It is also cut into the rock and a unique in Iran. Price of accommodation in rooms with Jacuzzi is $ 200.

Room inside a rock.

And this is the view of a house in Kandovan. The very brutal nature of these created sharp rocks allows people to rout the rooms and incorporate windows and doors.

There are approximately 1000 inhabitants in the village.
