"Noah's Ark" found in the Turkish mountains

A group of Chinese and Turkish researchers, who are investigating the biblical facts, found in the mountains of Turkey, at an altitude of 4,000 meters residues that are believed to be the part of the legendary Noah's ark.

The team examined the remains of wood and found that remains are about 4,800 years old which is at the time when Noah's Ark was launched according to the legend.

Jeong Wing-Chung, a member of the team, said that the structure has several sections, and that some of them have wooden beams which were supposedly used for the animal cages.

"We are not 100% sure that it is the Noah's Ark, but we can safely say that we are 99.9% sure" - he told AFP agency.

The group has rejected the claim that the remains are a part of a settlement. No settlement has ever been found dating from that era which was on such a high altitude.

Mr. Jeong told the local Turkish officials that the place is historically important and that it must go under the protection of UNESCO, as well as that the further research will be continued.

According to the biblical story, God decided to flood the earth when he saw how corrupt it has become, and told Noah to build an ark and save two species of each animal.

After the flood, the water withdrew and the Ark has found its peace in the mountains.

Many believe that Mount Ararat, which is the highest in the region, became the haven for Noah and his "crew".
