At about 2, 5 miles from the town of Ica in southern Peru, there's a little heaven on earth - an oasis Huacachina. This is actually a small village with about 100 inhabitants which is surrounded by palm trees and high dunes that make it incredibly beautiful. According to a legend, the water appeared when the princess drove away a young hunter from her bathroom. After he left, she stepped out of the bathroom and the water created this little heaven. According to the same legend, the princess still lives in the water as a mermaid. What people don’t know is that the oasis lies on a desert which is full of fossilized bones and shark teeth. To be more precise, there should be teeth of the Magalodon shark, who is supposed to have inhabited this area while it was still under the ocean about 25 million years ago.
